Then last Nov we got an email that stated that if we didn't commit to something by the end of the year, we'd lose it. When covid hit we got a refund on everything, or almost, with some things less a service fee, things like plane tickets and eurail, but the tour company only offered us a credit.

We/re getting on and that's what oldies do isn't it, go on organised tours? It was the first time we'd ever bought a package tour, it looked good to us and the price was right. We picked up a couple more big synmats for my Dutch cousin's recent visit and they fell in love with them too. For our conditions they are effectively the same. Mine became porous and I got a partial refund and replaced it with one level in insulation less synthetic fill one. We both got the highest rated down filled mattresses. The other aspect is the fill, which provides great insulation from the ground, which means a lighter weight sleeping bag is OK. Yep, the xped makes camp sleeping comfy, nothing else I've tried comes close. Although it feels like an electrcal issue (miss) it seems it would have to be carburetor related since it is stricktly at high elevations. It is basically stock engine and carburetor wise, but it has been running great around Cottonwood, AZ, at 3500' elevation, going up to 7,000+ and down to a couple hundred feet. Around here the highest elevation is just a bit over 7,000 feet and I have no problems at all. Coming back over Wolf Creek I down shifted, slowed to the speed limit (!) and in third gear it ran fine - unless I tried to accelerate with large throttle opening. Feels like a miss, and sometimes it loses power until the throttle can be closed a lot. On both these trips when I hit high elevations (over 8,000 feet basically), with very large throttle openings it stutters. Now I used to ride DR2 all the time in Colorado and never had an issue at all.

Wolf Creek about 10,500, La Veta about 9,500. For the second straight year I rode US 160 over Wolf Creek and La Veta passes.
